Therapy is a conscious development of competence in the wake of change

Gregory Whiting, LICSW

People deal with trauma and change as they are, not as they would like to be. Working with people who have been impacted by trauma is important to me as a clinician. I am committed to using the therapeutic process to help people develop healthy coping skills in the wake of challenging experiences. I seek to provide safe and ethical care for clients of a variety of backgrounds with an emphasis on meeting the unique needs of Black, Indigenous, and people of color as well as people in various queer and transgender communities.

I specialize in motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based CBT, suicide assessment, and a strengths-based approach. I utilize these skills to create an environment in which people are better able to identify problems, identify their strengths, and change behaviors that are no longer useful for them. This process is transformative, which means it can sometimes be fun, exciting, boring, difficult, easy, predictable, and frustrating. I will work with you to develop a therapeutic experience that best suits your treatment goals and identified needs.

Therapy is a journey that may begin with trying different providers to determine what best suits your unique needs. I encourage you to spend time getting comfortable with identifying what is more important for you. I utilize my treatment modalities and experience to help you develop more agency in the challenges of life. I also have supervisees working with me who are available for new clients. Reach out to me directly and I'd be happy to refer you.

Chloe Kimiai, LMHCA

Offering therapy for adults and teens under the clinical supervision of Gregory Whiting.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master’s in Education in Counseling. I bring over six years of experience as a Mental Health Counselor and advocate, High School Counselor in Seattle, and an Adjunct Faculty Counselor Educator at Seattle University. As a therapist, I specialize in working with teens and young adults. I have years of experience working with People of Color, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and individuals who have neurodivergence, and center identity in my work. I have specific interest in working with people who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, school related issues, are experiencing life transitions, and those who simply feel they could benefit from having a caring and supportive professional to talk to.

As a Queer, mixed, Persian-American woman from an immigrant family, I bring lived experience and cultural humility to my work. I am deeply aware of how power, privilege, and systemic inequities shape mental health and access to care. My practice is rooted in anti-oppressive values, and I strive to create affirming, inclusive spaces where clients feel seen and supported in all their identities. I carry a calming, grounded presence. I am someone who communicates clearly, builds strong relationships, and brings humor, adaptability, and high standards to every setting. I am skilled at collaboration and believe that therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to create goals and create an environment that focuses on client need and desire. If you’re looking for a therapist who brings clinical expertise, cultural insight, and a deep commitment to wellbeing, I’d be honored to connect.

Currently I work Monday – Friday via telehealth. My rate is $160 per session and I offer sliding scale benefits for those who may need it. I am in-network for Premera, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Most Plans – Not Boeing), Anthem (Blue Cross symbol only), Lifewise, Kaiser Permanente/Group Health, First Choice (Most plans).

I can also provide a superbill for my out-of-network clients. Please reach out with any questions. If you are a member with any of these plans, your sessions may be covered in full or in part depending on your specific benefits. I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to verify your coverage for outpatient mental health services.

Tommy McElroy, MSW Intern

Offering therapy for adults and teens under the clinical supervision of Gregory Whiting through the guidance of Liz Chang, Executive Director of Unity Collective.

I am currently a graduate student in the Master of Social Work program at the University of Washington. I earned my AA from Shoreline Community College and BA in Sociology from Western Washington University. I was raised in the suburbs and am a loyal Seattle sports fan. Upon graduating, I moved to Korea for a couple of years and returned to Seattle inspired to begin a career in social work.

My interest in therapy comes from my lived experience as a neurodivergent Korean transracial adoptee navigating racial and cultural identities in a mixed family. I am also a proud Certified Peer Counselor and my approach is grounded in the framework that you are the expert in your own life. Having worked with youth and families experiencing crisis, I also believe that you have the knowledge and desire to heal, along with guidance from supports in your life.

In addition to being person-centered, trauma-informed, and neurodivergent-affirming, I enjoy collaborating and supporting your goals in ways that best serve your life story. Adolescence and young adulthood are hard. So too are life transitions. It is a lot, and we don’t have to go through it alone.

I enjoy and feel so honored to work with those who feel “in-between”. We all have such a powerful and beautiful ability to live as we truly desire. As an Asian American man, I saw very few mental health professionals who looked like me. I feel very passionate about increasing access to BIPOC therapy and am so humbled to be here.

Rate: $90 / 50-minute session
